Bishop Peak
When you are thinking about a weekend of hiking adventures, why not consider Bishop Peak in San Luis Obispo, California? It is located right at the very foot of Mount Bishop. If you love hiking and camping, you will want to take a day or two to explore the different peaks and get as far from civilization as possible. The terrain varies greatly, with a moderate climb on the east and west sides and a challenging climb on the north side. Of course, if the weather is terrible, you don’t have to worry about the wildlife and plants.
After you have made it through the woods on your own, it is time to hit the trails. The best times to be on the course are early in the morning and late in the afternoon. You want to be cautious because there are a variety of snakes out there. If you see one, you may not want to get too close. It’s always better to take precautions before an emergency. Also, keep in mind that this is a volcano, so bringing some food and water with you is wise to avoid being stranded.
It would help if you never did things while hiking to Bishop Peak: walking into the forest after dark and hiking beyond what the leaders have sighted. There is a lot of danger within these backcountry areas, so you should only do them if you are well aware of what you are doing. There is also a chance that you will get lost. It is better to spend a little more time finding your way than to get lost.
One of the best ways to enjoy the scenery at Bishop is to do it in the winter. There are a couple of different routes, depending on whether you want to experience it in the summer or the winter.
