Railroad District

The railroad district is located in San Luis Obispo in CA. The area was settled by the Spanish and Italian immigrants who made a community from their tiny creek homes. The room was considered to be the oldest American town east of San Francisco Bay. Within walking distance of the San Luis Obispo airport is the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and the Lassen National Park makes an excellent destination for nature walks and hiking.

To learn more about this unique area, one of the best ways is to spend some time walking the many train tracks. The Pacific Coast Railroad is the most traveled railroad that passes through the area. You can also take a train tour from the Trans-Pacific Railroad, which has its beginnings way back inieverrouge. This train ride allows visitors to experience some historical heritage while they enjoy the view of the passing train tracks. Wildlife is abundant in and around the railroad station area. Several great historical attractions close by, including Alameda County War Memorial, San Luis Obispo County War Memorial, and the Placerville Gold Rush Site.

Traveling into the area is not far either. The Visitor’s Center sits in the heart of the site, right in front of Del Mar Park and the McAllister Park. Within walking distance of all of these attractions is the Visitor’s Center to purchase maps and brochures. The local history museum holds many interesting artifacts from the past of this area. You can also stop by at the local artisans who have their shops right within walking distance. They will be happy to show you around and tell you about their products.

Food lovers can find a variety of cafes, diners, and restaurants within walking distance as well as right off of the highway. If you are looking for a good burger, drive some distance to the Del Mar Park and pick up a delicious burger. For some of the most delicious Asian food in town, go to the La Jolla Shores Market, which features many authentic Chinese foods and a giant Chinese vegetable section. Of course, you can also stop by at the Gas Lamp District, known for its wide selection of books and clothing.
No matter what your taste buds are like, you will enjoy visiting San Luis Obispo. This place has so much to offer.
