How Do You Get Rid of Mold in a House?
If you are looking for How Do You Get Rid of Mold in a House? then you’ve come to the right place. This article will show you many ways that will help you get rid of mold in your house.
If I hate one thing, it’s mold growing inside my house, especially if the roof has any leak or damage. That stuff can grow so fast on some types of surfaces.
Without getting too graphic, the black material on the 3rd photo above is molded on top of a water damage/leak on our bedroom ceiling…yuck! Now mind you, this isn’t just on one side, but both sides had begun to grow with fungus and various other forms of harmful bacteria… yikes!
If you have mold growing inside your house, the first thing you should do is find the problem’s source. Suppose your roof has a leak or any damage, then that should be addressed as soon as possible. You can use store-bought products all you want, but if the cause hasn’t been fixed, then it will just come back again and again. That being said, without getting too detailed (cause I know most people aren’t roofers), here are some pointers on how to get rid of mold in your house:
*Fix any damages or leaks ASAP
*Use bleach or another type of cleanser with disinfectant properties to clean surfaces with visible mold growth; this will help kill it off but may not get rid of it completely
*Use a mold-killing spray to kill the mold you can’t see on walls, corners, ceilings, etc. If the surfaces are porous, then be very careful around them because these products will discolor or ruin your paint job. I’ve experimented with several different types of mold-killing sprays and found an indigo one called Stop Mold; it’s quite effective; here is my review on this product!
*Air out the house as much as possible (especially if there is any visible growth), preferably outside in sunlight for at least 8 hours.
*Make sure all water (kitchen sinks, bathtub, pool) are draining properly; fix any leaks immediately! The longer you wait, the worse it will be.
*Be sure to use fans during warmer months, so your air vents are circulating fresh air throughout the house.
If there is visible growth, then you should probably contact a professional that deals with mold remediation. We have some other articles on this site that might help you get rid of mold because I know it’s not cheap!
