Fig Garden Loop

About Fig Garden is a new book by Mark B. Legg of the Department of Urban Design and Planning at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. It provides a helpful primer on using public spaces as “spaces.” This book includes detailed information on creating a garden in a city environment, specifically in the city of Fresno. The book also includes 20 fully illustrated, color-coded garden planters that can be used immediately and have a central place in the garden plot.

Although I think about Fig Garden Loop as being primarily a gardening book, it also has some educational content, including sections on historical gardening in the United States, gardening at home, organic gardening, food preservation techniques, gardening the natural environment, local food markets, and of course, environmental issues.

Although I’ve read some excellent articles concerning the importance of sustainable agriculture, I felt the section on Fig Garden was a little too brief and didn’t go into as much depth as it could have. Other than that, this is an easy-to-read, enjoyable read that’s well worth a read.
A central theme throughout the Fig Garden Loop series is the theme of sustainable agriculture. This book also provides information about organic gardening, food preservation techniques, local food markets, and sustainable agriculture in the city. Of course, you’ll find many other sustainable gardening topics throughout this series as well. These include such issues as building politics, composting worm castings, compost piles, and of course, edible landscapes (plants! ).

There are a few things I would like to highlight as well. First of all, it’s nice to have plant life thriving in the garden plot. FigGarden’s exciting take on this is that they provide a variety of “beneficial” plants that add aesthetic value to the garden plot and nutritional value. By planting different plants that help promote biodiversity, farmers can reduce pesticide use, conserve water, and even cut down their carbon footprint.

Fig gardening has also provided me with a new appreciation for the work involved in planning and constructing a garden plot. It also has added another dimension of fun to my gardening experience. There are many tools that I now know how to use to make my property look better and function more efficiently, such as a trellis, planters with sprigs of moss, hanging baskets, and a variety of others. Now, I don’t have to be a very accomplished gardener to implement some of these ideas.

There are so many benefits to using a good gardening design software program like Figaro. With so many tools to choose from, Fig Garden offers something for everyone. This software not only helps a beginner or experienced gardener create beautiful gardens, but it also allows the gardener to take on more than one project at a time, thus increasing the scope and complexity of gardening. A great Fig Gardening tutorial on the garden website explains all of the software’s features and how to set up a simple garden plot. If you are considering starting your garden, you might want to check out FigGard. I am sure you will be happy with your results.
